It’s called MacOSX People, please start supporting it!

Why don\'t you support Mac?I can’t tell you how much this makes me crazy, that some 8 years after MacOSX was released companies are still not able to support Apple and the new and improved OS. I am sure the learning curve is hard to grasp and has taken most software companies by storm so much so that it will take them well over 8 years to start working with it instead of fighting it.

Let’s look as one of the largest problems with supporting MacOSX. For one it’s built on BSD which is so hard to understand and then to make that even worse they give away the developer client called xCode. Microsoft makes you pay for these tools, but Apple gives them away freely with the purchase of the OS. Shame on them, this must be the point of confusion. If something is FREE, it’s worthless. Take Linux for example. We all know it’s complete crap becasue it’s FREE, and nothing says CRAP like when you have to give it away.

So much for that. I think we all know what Mac is so hard to work with. Now shame on all the companies, IBM included that don’t play nice with MacOSX. Shame on Lotus, Shame on IBM i and shame on all the places like Tango/04 who don’t think it’s a good idea to want to sell products to all of it’s customers base?

Why would you decide to only reach part of the market? Why would you limit yourself to just supporting the Windows platform? I know its been a big seller but times are a changing. IE is out and Firefox is in. I am going to say it again, it’s only a matter of time before Microsoft losses it’s foothold and you have to think about that time now.

To be fair about this, there are a few hardware and software vendors whose stuff is strictly MacOSX-only. Elgato, maker of EyeTV, comes to mind, and there are others.

What would be helpful is a list (even partially) of specific things providers could do… or rather, the big misses in delivering content / apps for Mac OSX. Your impassioned plea is certainly valid - how about some specific criticisms that Notes / Domino (and other) developers can begin attempting to address?

I would agree with both Turtle and Jerry.

I can say this. Stay away from non-standard forms of media like WMA.
