Jim Grisanzio - Working from Home vs Working at work!

I read Jim’s blog everyday and sometimes, check your stats Jim I am sure you will see me hitting it, more than once a day maybe every hour or so, or at least I check it. So it goes without saying I like Jim, I like his content and I like to read what Jim has to say because it either reinforces my beliefs or it make me think a little about my views.

There I said it.

I also like to read Jim’s blog because he lives in Japan and I used to live in Japan and in a funny sort of way miss it and would love to live there again if the occasion was to arise, and with that said I give you the reason for the post, working from home or working from the office….

Jim lays out some good thoughts for you all wanting to work from home. I have done both and right now am doing both. I can tell you that in the office there is not much privacy, while at home I have my entire office to think, scream, talk to myself and just be me, while that is not the case in the office provided for me which is not an office in that it has a door and such, but a large room with 3.5 foot cubes with little to no way to think or be away from all the action and bustle of office life.

So read Jim’s Boog post : Working from Home (or anywhere)

“Place shouldn’t matter. Results should matter. Being tied to an office as the only place of work is outdated at best. But I also value the concept of everyone getting together in the same space at times because I believe that face-to-face contact is essential to getting quality work done over the long term. Local teams can get together weekly in the office for meetings and white board sessions, and distributed teams can get together quarterly or bi-annually. And in between team meetings, various members can be interacting at conferences or user groups. In other words, there needs to be a balance of face-to-face and digital-phone relationships. “

Thanks Jim for the insigt!
