What do you love about IT?
You know I really can’t nail it down to one thing, but I would have to say that the day to day problems that keep you thinking and the projects that make IT easy are some of my favorite things. I think IT should always be looking to make the data the users need easy to get to and that is always going to be a problem.
What do you hate about IT?
I really hate people who have been in IT for a LONG time and don’t get the new technology or how to use it. It’s so important to be able to look down the road and know that you can understand what is coming and how to adapt to keep the company on track and not get stuck saying “We have always done it like that.” and at the same time hope no one fires you for being short sighted. Learn to think about what the users could use to make their job easier even if it makes your job harder in the short term.
I know this seems very simple but you would die if you knew how many CIOs and CTOs I know who don’t get that short bit of information.
Do you have any opinions David?
No not really….I just ramble from time to time about nothing…..
Whats next for David?
I think World Domination would be a little short sighted on my part. I am not really sure about what is coming up for me. I know I love Colorado, and I like the idea of living on a bigger chunk of land, building “Bullie Ranch”, and having room for a large detached garage so that I can build a few old cars, maybe a VW Bug or two, a Corvette and keep the next Audi in my life in top condition. I am pretty simple if you really think abou it.
I like the idea of living abroad. You only get one shot at this life and I would like to live it up a bit. Too many people stay in one place and don’t live out the lives they want. I think Australia would be a nice start.
